Hello July! Taking Our Independence, to be Dependent!

Hello Ladies( and Gents ) of Godly Spiritual Ladies:

Welcome to day 1 of July 2015. This month's theme of reflection will be about independence. As followers of Christ we all have made the independent choice to be dependent on God.

As our co-founder, Sister Clark-Kim, along with her spouse Brother Kim; and I; we will present songs and scripture that express our feelings toward independence and dependence for the 1st 7 days of this month.

For a bit of history - The word July comes from the latin name Julius after Julius Caesar. One verse that gets quoted often is:

Wisdom Hunters

Searching for a Treasure Greater Than Gold

Last summer, a family of treasure hunters discovered a 300-year-old gold Spanish pyx—a religious relic once used by priests to hold the communion host—off the coast of the Atlantic. It’s the missing piece of a necklace that was discovered at the same wreck in 1989.

In an interview with Good Morning America, the owner of their company and fellow hunter, Brent Brisben, said, “We find shipwrecked artifacts on a daily basis, but it's more like ship spikes and musket balls, so when you get an extremely rare, unique piece like this, it's exciting," he said.

While most of us will never experience the elated happiness of discovering an ancient treasure, there is something more valuable, yet attainable, that we ought to be searching for daily: wisdom.

In his message “In Search of Wisdom,” Dr. Stanley says wisdom is like a hidden treasure (Prov. 2:1-7), and a gift from God (Ecc. 2:26). It is the ability to view things from God’s perspective and on the basis of His Word. It doesn’t come automatically, but to those who desire to live according to the Lord’s plan and are willing to seek Him, He freely gives it.

Dr. Stanley says to acquire wisdom we must:

Meditate on God’s Word (Prov. 4:10-11).
Pray specifically for it (James 1:5).
Observe how God works in the world (Prov. 6:6).
Heed godly counsel (Prov. 12:15).
Associate with the wise (Prov. 13:20).

Wisdom has the power to change our lives and save us from ungodly choices. We ought to be seeking it with the diligence and expectation of a seasoned treasure hunter.

Do you value wisdom to the point that you will search for it daily? Do you take joy in discovering God’s will? Be willing to dive deep into His Word and dig for such a worthy treasure. You will not be disappointed.

Embrace, Ask & Forgive

Mark 11:22-25 MSG

Jesus was matter-of-fact: “Embrace this God-life. Really embrace it, and nothing will be too much for you. This mountain, for instance: Just say, ‘Go jump in the lake’—no shuffling or shilly-shallying—and it’s as good as done. That’s why I urge you to pray for absolutely everything, ranging from small to large. Include everything as you embrace this God-life, and you’ll get God’s everything. And when you assume the posture of prayer, remember that it’s not all asking . If you have anything against someone, forgive —only then will your heavenly Father be inclined to also wipe your slate clean of sins.”
